the Mysterious Island (1929)
The Mysterious Island, 1927-29, directed by Maurice Tourneur, Benjamin Christensen, and, finally, by the producer and screenwriter, Lucien Hubbard, was an adaptation of the backstory of Captain Nemo as found in the novel, the Mysterious Island (Jules Verne, 1874, which was adapted more faithfully by Cy Endfield in 1961.) I’ve used images from this film for many years and only recently had the opportunity to see the film itself. These images are from a recently rediscovered print of the film in technicolor.
