Charles Dickens's Two Hundredth Birthday
If you know me at all well then you know that I adore the novels of Charles Dickens. I've read all but one of them; and that one's the last one and it's unfinished. I like some more than others, but the only one I think is mostly bad is A Tale Of Two Cities. My present favorite is The Old Curiosity Shop; and the selection of illustrations that follow here are from those that appeared in its first edition. Crude as they are, these pictures were clearly approved by the author and, as they are presented in their proper order, should convey some sense of the spirit of the thing. This, of course, is all done by way of homage to the great man on his two hundredth bithday.
