On the hundredth anniversary of Toshiro Mifune's birth (April 1, 1920) here a few frames from his first performance for Kurosawa as a tubercular low level yakuza befriended by an old alcoholic doctor (the drunken angel of film's title played by his oft cast mate Takashi Shimura).
It's what is known as an explosive performance.
