Acrylic & Collage on Canvas
Among the various contemporary Queer artists of my
generation who paint, I am particularly fond of the work done by Richard
Hawkins; and I especially like this group of paintings he did a couple
of years ago. His palette is pretty bright and the brushwork fairly
loose and it all looks fresh and unmediated. It also comes off as not
unskilled. The titles are smart and funny too.
