To Fumi Kimura
Today, I'm going on a short trip south to visit my friend, Fumi Kimura, at her succulent farm in Aromas. For the last few years, I've worked for her at the Farmers' Markets here in San Francisco. Fumi has been seriously ill for the last year and a half; and lately her condition has become even worse. Her other friends and I continue to hold out hope for her, but her chances of recovery become continually slimmer. These are some photographs from my visit last spring to her farm. Those above were taken at the Alemany Farmers' Market. She was undergoing chemo-therapy at the time, which accounts for her sparse eyebrows; but I think she looks remarkably healthy and beautiful in these photos.

Thank you for posting these wonderful photos of Fumi at the farmer's market and of her farm in Aromas. We visited her in Aromas about 5 days before you (we couldn't make it to her birthday). My first time there and the location is magical. So worth fighting for as she did so valiantly. My husband and I are away now on the East coast - I'll be here until March 29. I don't want to join Facebook, but would love to know how Fumi is. Is there any other site besides on Facebook to stay up-dated? Thanks, jeannie
