Tehran 1998
Kiarostami’s body returned to Iran the other day and some friends were waiting at the airport to pick him up. One of his sons was allowed to accompany him. There were also official honors. I had a good cry over the image of his cohorts hoisting the bag containing his remains. I hadn’t been thinking a lot about Kiarostami lately. I had almost forgotten how much he affected the way I went about shooting and editing my videos. He was a great teacher, by all accounts.
