Claire Denis’ long awaited science fiction film, High Life, her first in English, had its first public showing at the Toronto Film Festival last week. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ve been mulling over these images from it since they were released a few months ago. Though she wasn’t working with her usual camerawoman, Agnès Godard, the images are very much of a piece with those of her other films. (Yorick Le Saux is the director of photography here.) I especially look forward to seeing what she can do with Pattinson along the lines of her past close physical explorations of Grégoire Colin and Isaach De Bankolé .
