Pictures from the trailer released the other morning. Same day as hit-piece in Guardian from Company Flack. Poison Pen. Coppola unfazed. Pictures look great. Should be perfect follow up to Twixt. Coppola trying to reach his essence. His essential style, essential story, essential spirit. Another dream project guided by actual dreams. Images evoke Conversation, Apocalypse Now, One from the Heart, Rumble Fish, Cotton Club, Tucker, Dracula, Youth Without Youth, Twixt. Like Lynch and the Return, a kind of retrospective and a push beyond.
Art, propaganda and pornography presented by the artist sometimes known as Arte Barrato (even misspelled as it is here,) some of it his own work and most of it stuff he appreciates and chooses to elucidate and honor.
