In honor of Stanley Kubrick’s ninetieth birthday today I thought it best to post some frames from a favorite scene from a favorite film, Barry Lyndon. Wolf Kahler plays the Prince of Tübingen, who has been cheated at cards by Barry, a humbly poised Ryan O'Neal, and the Chevalier du Balibari, shrewdly played by Patrick Magee, and threatens the cheat with a duel. In the candlelight, Kahler’s face looks as if it was sculpted out of wax.
