Kobi Zane & Samuel Petre at Eureka Valley Rec

I probably won't attend life drawing today so I may take someone to Golden Gate Bridge; but here are some drawings from last week: four 30 minute poses and two sheets of 3 minute poses (two on the first and three on the second). The models were Kobi Zane and Samuel Petre, and these sessions were set up and run by Thomasina DeMaio.  Below are four 30 minute drawings from the week before.

Leonardo da Vinci's Final Painting

As today is the five hundredth anniversary of Leonardo’s death it seemed a good time to post a photo of his final painting, John the Baptist, and two other images of the saint in the wilderness that came from his circle or workshop. The first of these later pictures supposedly by Cesare di Sesto and the other by Bernardino Lanino are based on a red chalk drawing by Leonardo (that was stolen in 1973, so the available photo isn’t very good.)

Last Saturday's thirty minute life drawings of Derron Thweatt. I'm hoping I'll be able to do some slip painting on large handleless cups (like those the Classic era Mayas made) based on some of these.

These others are the three minute drawings done at the beginning of the drawing session to warm up.

Three frames from an unfinished video adaptation of the Old Curiosity Shop that was destroyed by an internet ransom virus.  These pictures show my sister, Karen, in the role of Mrs Jarley.  Today was the first anniversary of my sister’s death. RIP.

Some newly published Jack Smith photos circa 1961 from the Sunday night sessions with Francis Francine, Reese Haire, Marian Zazeela, Mario Montez, Rene Rivera, (same model different garb), Ronald Tavel and an interesting man whom I've seen in earlier pictures without being able to identify.

Life Drawing at SF Art Institute

San Francisco Art Institute, 800 Chestnut St, Friday 8 March 2019, a 3 hour session with model Sarah Menefee. I went because the Saturday session at Eureka Valley Rec was canceled. It was good to draw from an older woman for a change. Maybe I'll keep going.
