Egypt circa 1st - 3rd Century CE Encaustic on Wood Panel
Greco-Roman style panel portraits, the Fayum group are the only large
body of panel paintings to have survived from the Classical Period.
They appear to mostly represent the Greek resident of Roman Era Egypt.
The short essays and the images I post to this blog tend to reflect my present interests and work. Occasionally I will present my own work in drawing or painting, but more often what one finds there are the sources for that work.
