Cinefotocolor (1948-54)

1 y 2, Todo es posible en Granada

3,4,5 y 6, la niña de la venta

7, Estrella de Sierra Morena

8, Duende y misterio del flamenco

9, Doña Francisquita

10, La hermana San Sulpicio

I became briefly fascinated with this two color film processing used in Spain in the nineteen fifties as I was researching Edgar Ulmer’s Muchachas de Bagdad a couple of months ago and have been meaning to show some examples not directly related to his work in Barcelona.  I haven’t seen any of the films from which the above frames are taken but enjoy them as individual images where I may project a narrative to fit the activities depicted. Much more information on the process can be found at: http://cinefotocolor.blogspot.com.es/

This last picture, presented in four frame separation and the fifth combined, does relate to Muchachas de Bagdad.  It shows Gypsy Rose Lee and Paulette Goddard in a costume, makeup and lighting test for Ulmer's Spanish made Arabian burlesque.
