Massacre at Paris

These are drawings I made for a series inspired by Marlowe’s play of the same name that we only know from a memorial edition put together from the scraps that his actors and stage manager could remember fifteen years later.  A lot of it was forgotten in the interim and some lines from a few of Shakespeare’s plays were remembered instead, but it’s still worth reading and has inspired more great work, such as Patrice Chéreau’s film La Reine Margot.
