Rebellious Slaves


Among the few paintings of mine which have found their ways into widely circulated "art books" is the one above from this series which places the former Knickerbocker basketball star, Larry Johnson, in the position of Michelangelo's Rebellious Slave, reflecting a statement the player made to the media during the 1999 Finals. The background comes from my favorite Leonardo painting, The Madonna and Child With a Yarn Winder. The paintings below are either obviously or indirectly related.
