The penultimate section of the Return began with the long awaited showdown between the two Coopers, Mr C and Special Agent Dale, though it turned out to be Dale’s allies (in part under his instruction) who actually managed to physically vanquish the doppelganger and the supernatural entity within him. It was Lucy Moran, the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station Receptionist, who shot and killed Mr C; and Freddy Sykes, the green gloved East Ender, who used his pile driving fist to blast the BOB orb apart and to heaven for good. All of this took place in the close confines of Sheriff Truman’s office, which by the end of the scene was pretty full of major characters, lined up almost as if for a theatrical curtain call. It all came much sooner than expected, and left plenty of time for it all to go wrong again, which it soon did.
