Las Pinturas Teotihuacanas

The watercolor drawings above and below were made in DF, Mexico in 1997. The Materials were purchased there, in the courtyard where the printing presses are operated in the open air. Cheap brushes, paints, and papers were employed in the making of these pieces of arte barato. The images were inspired by the murals I had recently seen in the ancient city of Teotihuacan. They were meant to blur the boundry between drawing and writing as so much of the arte precolombiano did.
